Site Characteristics

  • Huntable acres:736
  • Habitat: The area is generally rolling, with some steep areas, particularly in the north section with high wooded hills and deep ravines. The area hunted north of Route 50 is mostly deciduous woodland; the area to the south is woodland with plots of annual grains, clover and grassy cover interspersed by fencerows and evergreen plantings. The upland forested areas are mainly mature oak-hickory type. The lake is near the center of the south park, with the campground toward the south. The park office is on the west boundary.

Site Specific Regulations

  • All statewide hunting regulations apply at site unless noted hereafter
  • Site requires use of windshield card displayed on vehicle dashboard to report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February
  • Use Hunt Planner to find hunting seasons open at this site
  • Hunters may leave trees stands unattended from September 15-January 31. Stands must be legibly marked with owner’s name, address and telephone number
  • Non-toxic shot is required for upland game hunting
  • Night hunting not permitted.
  • Hunting is by shotgun or archery only
  • No off-road vehicle use
  • Species-specific rules:


  • Archery

    • Vehicles must be parked in designated parking areas
    • Archery deer hunting continues during the statewide firearm deer hunting season
      • Archery Deer hunters must wear blaze orange during this period


  • Fall Archery
    • Statewide regulations apply.
  • Spring
    • Site specific permit issued through the statewide lottery required


  • Waterfowl hunting not permitted.


  • Squirrels

  • Rabbits
    • Statewide regulations apply.

  • Hunting
    • Coyote and Bobcat only
      • Coyote and Bobcat may be taken during their respective seasons that fall within archery deer season by archery deer hunters only.
      • Coyotes may be taken by shotgun from the day after the archery season closes until February 28.
      • Bobcats may be taken with a shotgun from the day after archery season closes until the end of the bobcat hunting season.
    • Pursuit if Coyotes and Bobcats with dogs is strictly prohibited.
