Habitat: Rolling grasslands, mature and early successional woodlands and riparian woodlands along the West Branch of Hurricane Creek. Note: Hurricane Creek is subject to rapid changes in water levels. The shallow-water ford is not accessible to vehicles and crossing should not be attempted during high water.

- The site requires the use of a windshield card, displayed on the vehicle dashboard, to report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February.
- Tree stands and ground blinds may be left unattended from September 15 to January 31. Any tree stand or ground blind left unattended must be legibly marked with the owner’s name, address, and telephone number, or site-assigned identification number.

- Requires a lottery-based Free Upland Game Permit that you can apply for online between Aug 1 and Aug 31. Harvest reporting materials will be mailed to successful permit holders via the Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS). You must report your harvest to INHS by February 15th to avoid the loss of hunting privileges for the following year.
- Hunting will be permitted on the first and second day of the statewide upland game season and on each subsequent Wednesday and Saturday in November and on each Thursday and Sunday in December, through December 24th.
- Only 1 hunting party, consisting of the permit holder and no more than 3 companions, will be allowed each day.
