Site Characteristics
- Huntable acres: 950
- Habitat: Timber woodlots, brushy draws, and fence lines interspersed with open grasslands and agricultural fields. Topography consists of gently rolling hills with several gullies, some of which contain permanent water.



Site Specific Regulations
- All statewide hunting regulations apply at site unless noted hereafter.
- Use Hunt Planner to find hunting seasons open at this site.
- Non-hunters are not allowed in the hunting zones during open season.
- Species-specific rules:
Deer
- Archery
- Season opens the day following the close of the 1st firearm deer season and closes with the statewide archery deer season.
- One portable non-piercing tree stands or ground blinds which are legibly labeled (with hunters name, address and phone number) may be set up beginning Sept 15 and left unattended until January 31.
- No special site permit is needed for archery hunting; however, hunters must register by recording name and date prior to hunting. Sign-in at check station.
- Hunters must sign out and record their harvest at the designated zone check station(s) upon completion of the hunt.
- Only zones 1,2,3,4 and 5 (see site map) are open to archery deer hunting.
- Firearm
- Hunting allowed during the first segment of the firearm deer season only.
- Site-specific permit required. 25 permits issued through the permit office in Springfield.
- Permits which are valid for Whiteside Co. will not be valid at Morrison Rockwood State Park.
- Permit holders are required to check-in by 5 am each morning.
- If the hunter quota is not filled each day of the firearm season, it will be filled by a daily drawing held at the area check station beginning at 5 am.
- Standby hunters must purchase a site specific daily permit for $5.00 and may only hunt on the day they were selected.
- Legal hunting devices as described in 17 Ill. Adm. Code, Section 650.30 a)

Turkey
- Spring
- Site-specific permit required. Permit issued through statewide lottery system.
- Site will be open for the 1st 4 segments of the spring turkey season only.
- Required to sign-in at designated locations and sign out and report harvest.
- Site divided into 6 hunting zones with no more than 2 hunters per zone.
- A hunter may be accompanied by 1 non-hunter.
- No fall turkey season
Waterfowl
- Waterfowl hunting not permitted
Squirrels/Rabbits
- Squirrels
- Season open Nov 1 through the Thursday before the first firearm deer season
- Must sign-in and sign-out at check-in areas
- Shotguns with steel shot of #3 or smaller, or with shot of # 5 or smaller for lead, tungsten or bismuth.
- .22 caliber or smaller rimfire rifles, muzzleloading black powder rifles, or air rifles .25 caliber or smaller, and may use archery tackle of flu-flu arrows.
- Only zones 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 (see map) are open to squirrel hunting.
- Rabbits
- Not rabbit hunting permitted
Upland Birds
- No pheasant or quail hunting permitted.
- Dove
- From Sept 1 – 5, dove hunting allowed 12 pm – 5 pm for those hunters who have been assigned via a drawing. Daily drawing is held at parking lot/check station at 11 am.
- Limited number of hunters allowed
- From Sept 6 – 30, statewide hours and regulations
- Hunting must be done with shotgun only. Shot size is restricted to #7 1/2 lead or #6 steel.
- All hunters are required to sign in and out at the designated check station.
Furbearers
- Trapping
- Trapping permits are issued through an annual drawing held at Morrison Rockwood State Park. Contact site for drawing date and time.

- No furbearer hunting permitted.
