Site Characteristics
Huntable acres: 2,628
Habitat: characterized by a mix of upland and lowland vegetation, with mostly forest, shrubs, and patchy grasslands. Some managed cropland fields on-site offer grain food for wildlife. River, streams, and managed trails run throughout. Parts of the site have steep topography and active horse riding.
Active habitat management will occur throughout the year on the site.





Site Specific Regulations
Statewide and associated species regulations apply at the site unless noted hereafter.
The site requires the use of a windshield card, displayed on the vehicle dashboard, to report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February.
Closed to all other activities during firearm and muzzleloader deer hunting seasons, and during all spring turkey hunting seasons within legal hunting hours.
Only one tree stand or ground blind is allowed per deer permit holder. Tree stands and ground blinds must comply with restrictions listed in 17 Ill. Adm. Code 510.10(c)(3) and (c)(12) and must be portable. Tree stands and ground blinds may be left unattended from September 15 to January 31. Any tree stand or ground blind left unattended overnight must be legibly marked with the owner’s name, address, and telephone number, or site-assigned identification number.

- A non-toxic shot, size 6 shot or smaller, is required for all dove hunting at this site.
September 1 through 5
- Dove hunting may only occur in the designated dove management units, and the hunting hours are 12-5 P.M. For these first five days, a drawing will be held at 11 A.M. at the site office.
September 6 – Remainder of Statewide Dove Season
- The entire site can be hunted during statewide hours.

Hunting

- Rimfire rifles .22 caliber and smaller may be used from sunset to sunrise.
- Furbearer hunting is closed during Firearm Deer Season.
- Hunters with a valid, unfilled firearm deer permit for the hunt area may take coyotes during legal hours of the firearm deer season. Otherwise, the use of shotgun slugs to take furbearing mammals is prohibited on state sites.
- Coyote and striped skunk season coincides with the statewide fox season.
Trapping
