Site Characteristics

  • Huntable acres: 159
  • Habitat: Topography varies from flat to gently rolling which is vegetated in a mixture of cool season grasses and legumes, warm season grasses, and shrubs. There are prairie restorations, old fields, creek bottoms, food plots, and woodland.

Site Specific Regulations

  • All statewide hunting regulations apply at site unless noted hereafter.
  • Site requires use of windshield card, displayed on vehicle dashboard, to report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February.
  • Use Hunt Planner to find hunting seasons open at this site.
  • Note regulations posted at the site before hunting.
  • No more that 4 hunters at any one time.
  • All hunters must sign in, sign out and report harvest at the registration box in the site parking lot.
  • All hunting must be with shotgun or bow and arrow
  • Species-specific rules:

Deer

  • Archery
    • Archery deer hunting is allowed in October only.
    • All archery deer hunters must sign in at the registration box in parking lot.
    • Archery hunters must sign out and report harvest at the registration box in the site parking lot.
    • One stand per hunter. Stands must be non-piercing, portable, and removed from the site at the end of each day’s hunt.
    • Must not engage in “driving” deer

Turkey

  • Turkey hunting not permitted

Waterfowl

  • Waterfowl hunting not permitted

Squirrels/Rabbits

  • Squirrels
    • Squirrel hunting not permitted
  • Rabbits
    • Special permits are allocated by the IDNR Springfield Permit Office.
    • Rabbit hunting must be with shotgun or bow and arrow (flu – flu arrows only, no broadheads).
    • Rabbit hunters must wear blaze orange apparel.

Upland Birds

  • Pheasant, Quail, and Hungarian Partridge
    • Hunting of pheasant, quail and partridge is allowed by permit only.
    • Special permits are allocated by the IDNR Springfield Permit Office. Dates to submit applications for the drawing will be announced.
    • 1 permit will be issued for each hunting date
    • Each permit holder may be accompanied by up to 3 hunting partners, allowing for a maximum of 4 hunters per day.
    • Each permit holder must complete and return a hunter harvest survey report to the IDNR by Feb 15.

  • All upland bird hunting must be with shotgun or bow and arrow (flu – flu arrows only and no broadheads).
  • Hunters must wear blaze orange apparel.
