Site Characteristics
Huntable acres: 213
Habitat: Grasslands of native prairie and redtop grasses, a wooded riparian zone beside a creek, and ephemeral wetlands characterize this area.
Active habitat management will be occurring throughout the year on the site, including prescribed burning.
Site Specific Regulations
Statewide and associated species regulations, in accordance with the Illinois Digest of Hunting and Trapping Regulations, apply at site unless noted hereafter.
Site requires use of windshield card, displayed on vehicle dashboard, to report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February.
Hunters should avoid disturbance to the natural community due to the presence of endangered species; therefore, hunters must not use an off-road vehicle or enter a restricted area.
Hunters should be extremely careful not to injure or kill any non-targeted species.
Hunters should refrain from hunting within 100 yards of dwelling.

Quail
- A free upland game permit is required for quail hunting.
- One permit per each Wednesday of the upland game hunting season will be issued from the Springfield permit office via the “Free Upland Game Permit” process.
- An application must be submitted online for a lottery drawing to be held in August. www.dnr.illinois.gov/hunting/uplandgame.
- Each permit holder is allowed to bring 3 hunting partners.
Pheasants
- Rarely present at the site; but if seen, a rooster pheasant may be harvested by a hunter with a free upland game permit.
- Upland bird hunters will be required to return their harvest cards prior to Feb.15th.
Rabbits

- A free upland game permit is required for rabbit hunting.
- One permit per each Wednesday of the upland game hunting season may be issued from the Springfield permit office via the “Free Upland Game Permit” process.

- Permits which are issued for dates after the close of bobwhite quail hunting season will be for rabbit hunting only.
