Upland & Small Game

Dove

Available at this site. Statewide regulations apply, except:

  • Requires a lottery-based Free Upland Game Permit that you can apply online for between Aug 1 – Aug 31. Harvest reporting materials will be mailed to successful permit holders via the Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS). You must report your harvest to INHS by February 15th to avoid losing hunting privileges for the following year. 
  • Hunting will be permitted on the first and second day of statewide upland game season and on each subsequent Wednesday and Saturday in November, and on each Thursday and Sunday in December, through December 24.
  • Only 1 hunting party, consisting of the permit holder and no more than 3 partners, will be allowed to hunt each day.  
  • All hunting must be with shotgun or bow and arrow.
  • Hunters must wear a cap and upper outer garment of solid blaze orange of at least 400 square inches.
  • Each permit holder must complete and return a harvest survey report.
