Habitat: Mostly grassland and shrub vegetation with a minor proportion of woodland. Active habitat management will occur throughout the year on the site, including prescribed burning.

Rabbits

Available at this site. Statewide regulations, except:

  • Requires a lottery-based Free Upland Game Permit that you can apply online for between Aug 1 – Aug 31. Harvest reporting materials will be mailed to successful permit holders via the Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS). You must report your harvest to INHS by February 15th to avoid losing hunting privileges for the following year. 
  • Hunting will be permitted on the first and second day of the statewide upland game season and on each subsequent Wednesday and Saturday in November and on each Thursday and Sunday in December, through December 24th. 
  • Only 1 hunting party, consisting of the permit holder and no more than 3 companions, will be allowed each day.
