Site Characteristics
Huntable acres: 800
Habitat: This bottomland lies adjacent to the Mississippi River in what once was leveed farmland. It is now comprised of surface water. Active habitat management will be occurring throughout the year on the site.
Site Specific Regulations
Statewide and associated species regulations in accordance with the Illinois Digest of Hunting and Trapping Regulations apply at site unless noted hereafter.
Site requires use of windshield card, displayed on vehicle dashboard, the pocket portion in your possession while hunting, and must report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February.
Hunters under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18 years or older).

It is unlawful to construct or use any tree stand that utilizes nails, screws, wire, or any device that pierces or cuts the bark of the tree on which it is installed.
Any tree stand must be portable and must be removed from the tree at the end of the day’s hunt.

Waterfowl hunters are required to hunt over a minimum of 12 decoys.
Waterfowl hunting parties must remain a minimum of 200 yards apart.

Only shotgun shells loaded with non-toxic shot may be in possession.

- A site permit is required and will be issued by the Big River State Forest office. A drawing will be held at the Big River office at 8 a.m. on opening day of firearm deer season.
- Permit applicants must submit name and address to the site prior to drawing.
- Permit must be in possession while trapping on the area.
- Only Egg Traps®, D-P (Dog-Proof) Traps®, Lil Grizz Get’rz®, box traps, cage traps, and traps of similar design may be used for land sets; only body-gripping traps with a jaw spread of 5 inches or less, foothold traps with a jaw spread of 4½ inches or less and square body-gripping traps with a 10 inch jaw spread may be used for water sets; snares may be used for water sets.
