Site Characteristics

  • Huntable acres:1,287
  • Habitat: The hunting area lies in two parcels. The first is just east of Metropolis and adjacent to the camping area. Only archery deer hunting is allowed in the Nature Preserve. The second area is farther southeast on Strawberry Road. Both areas are located along the Ohio River are are comprised of mature hardwood forests with legume-grain plots and old fields for wildlife. Active habitat management will be occurring throughout the year on the site.

Site Specific Regulations

  • All statewide hunting regulations apply at site unless noted hereafter.
  • Site requires use of windshield card, displayed on vehicle dashboard, to report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February.
  • Use Hunt Planner to find hunting seasons open at this site.
  • Hunters may leave stands unattended from September 15 – January 31. Stands must be legibly marked with owner’s name, address and telephone number.
  • Weapons must be unloaded when crossing the bike trail which runs through the hunting area.
  • Waterfowl hunting is only allowed on the Kerr Farm Units.
