Site Characteristics

  • Huntable acres: 520
  • Habitat: site lies along the west edge of Lake Shelbyville and is characterized by wooded ravines, prairie restorations and native grass plantings.

Site Specific Regulations

  • All statewide hunting regulations apply at site unless noted hereafter.
  • Site requires use of windshield card, displayed on vehicle dashboard, to report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February.
  • Hunters must remove tree stands from the area at the end of each day’s hunt.
  • Avoid trespassing or hunting on leased property.
  • Species-specific rules:

Deer

  • Archery
    • Statewide regulations.
    • Avoid trespassing on lodge and golf course leased property.
  • No Firearm or Muzzleloader season.

Turkey

  • Spring
    • Requires site-specific permit obtained via statewide lottery.
    • Open only during the 1st and 2nd periods.
  • Fall Archery
    • Statewide regulations.
  • No Fall gun season.

Waterfowl

  • Statewide regulations, except hunters must obtain a windshield card online.
  • Waterfowl hunters must set up no fewer than 200 yards from other hunters, developed recreational areas, construction or industrial sites.
  • Waterfowl hunting on Lake Shelbyville-park boundary only.

Squirrels/Rabbits

  • Squirrels
    • Season is August 1-November 3.
    • Shotgun only.
  • Rabbits
    • Statewide regulations.

Upland Birds

  • Pheasant & Quail
    • Statewide regulations.
  • Woodcock
    • Hunting hours end at 4pm daily.

Furbearers

  • Hunting
    • Raccoon only
      • Season opens day after second firearm deer season and closes December 20
      • Hunting hours: Sunset to Sunrise
    • Windshield Card required
  • Trapping not permitted.

Amenities
