Site Characteristics

  • Huntable acres: 240
  • Habitat: Open grassland consisting of two separate units. 160.0 – acre unit located 4.5 miles south of Chatsworth, intersection of 400 N Rd. and 3550 E Rd., Livingston County; 80.0 – acre unit located 3.0 miles south of Chatsworth, intersection of 500 N Rd. and 3500 E Rd. Active grassland habitat management will be occurring on the sites. These activities are designed to improve upland habitat.

  • All statewide hunting regulations apply at site unless noted hereafter.
  • Site requires use of a Free Upland Game Permit, apply online.
  • Only nontoxic shot approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of size #3 steel or tin, #4 bismuth shot or #5 tungsten-iron, tungsten-polymer, tungsten-matrix or smaller may be used or possessed.

Deer

Turkey

  • Turkey hunting not permitted.

Waterfowl

  • Waterfowl hunting not permitted.

Squirrels/Rabbits

  • Squirrel hunting not permitted.
  • Rabbits
    • Statewide regulations, but requires a Free Upland Game Permit obtained via statewide lottery
      • Permits are issued for the first and second day of the statewide upland game season and on each subsequent Wednesday and Saturday in November and on each Thursday and Sunday in December through Dec 24.
      • Hunters will be required to report their harvest prior to February 15th or the permit holders will forfeit hunting privileges at sites covered by the Free Upland Permit Lottery the following year.
      • Only one hunting party, consisting of the permit holder and 3 hunting partners, will be allowed each day.
    • All hunting must be done with shotgun or bow and arrow (flu flu arrows only).
    • Only nontoxic shot approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of size #3 steel or tin, #4 bismuth shot or #5 tungsten-iron, tungsten-polymer, tungsten-matrix or smaller may be used or possessed

Upland Birds

  • Pheasant and Quail
    • Statewide regulations, but requires a free upland game permit that must be obtained via statewide lottery. More information can be found here.
