Site Characteristics
- Huntable acres: 300
- Habitat: The area has been established with warm and cool season grasses and legumes to provide grassland birds habitat. The area contains lakes, ponds, & wetlands.

Site Specific Regulations
- All statewide hunting regulations apply at site unless noted hereafter.
- Use Hunt Planner to find hunting seasons open at this site.
- Site requires use of windshield card, displayed on vehicle dashboard, to report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February.
- Active habitat management will be occurring throughout the year on the site..

- For the first two weeks of the upland season, only youth hunters (hunters less than 16 who are accompanied by a supervising non-hunting adult) may hunt.
- After the first two weeks of the upland game season, rabbit hunting (as dictated by statewide regulations) opens at this site.
- Non-toxic shot (#3 steel or other equivalent USFWS approved high-density, non-toxic shot) is required.
- Hunters must wear blaze orange (including youth non-hunting companion).
- You will be required to sign in and out, and report harvests at the kiosks found in each designated parking area. Failure to report will result in loss of hunting privileges.
Upland Birds

- Site opens to upland hunting, dictated by statewide regulations, after the first two weeks of the season.

Furbearers
- Trapping
- Trapping begins at sunrise on Dec 26.
- Trapping on site requires use of windshield card, displayed on vehicle dashboard, to report hunting effort and harvest by 15 February.
- Location of trap set determines the type of trap allowed.
- Only Egg Traps*, D-P (Dog Proof) Traps, box traps, cage traps, & traps of similar design may be used for land sets.
- Body gripping traps must have a jaw spread of 10″ or less and be completely submerged under water.
- Trapper drawing shall be held prior to the opening of the season. The date of the drawing shall be announced by the Department by public announcement (publicly announced means that the information referred to will be included on the Department’s Internet Home Page at www.dnr.illinois.gov, provided to outdoor writers for newspapers) and the drawing shall be held at the site. Persons participating in the drawing must have either a current or previous year trapping license. Permit applicants must submit name and address to the site prior to drawing.
- Permits must be in possession while trapping on the area.
- .22 caliber or smaller rimfire firearms permitted.

- Actions by nature can result in closed roads and other facilities. Hunters should call ahead to Snakeden Hollow SFWA before making the trip.
